Forelhost, most commonly referred to as Forelhost Hold or Jarldom of Forelhost, is one of the four Old Holds of the Atmoran Kingdom, in the most southeasterly region of Fatherland. The capital of the hold is the city of Forelhost. The Jarl of the hold is Alfarr the Whisperer.

Description[]

Forelhost Hold occupies the most hospitable region of Fatherland, with its flora bewildering lush and teeming with game. Thick forests occupy most of the clearing surrounded by Velothi Mountains to the east and Jerall Mountains to the south. Steep highlands that border the forests ascend towards Fatherland's highest mountain, the Throat of the World, looming over the uneven terrain below and marking the natural border between Forelhost's nature and that of the western pine forests.

The capital of the hold is the city of Forelhost, built atop the mountain in the corner of Fatherland. It is best known for its massive monastery of Kyne; rumor has it that the local Atmorans, scarred by the Dragon War, decided to devote their prayers to the goddess of the wind and sky instead of the cruel masters that turned upon them in the darkest of times. Thus, Forelhost does not worship the totem animals, which are considered echoes of the past. Atmoran deity Stuhn is also worshiped in the hold. Most wanderers make their way south to take a glance at the Throat of the World, the very peak where the Atmorans emerged victorious in the Dragon War, ending the tyranny of the Dragon Cult. However, passage to the peak itself is prohibited and punishable by law, and the denizens of the settlement of Dorestad, located at the mountain's very feet, claim that they can hear bloodcurdling noises from above.

Forelhost is also home to significant Chimer and Nedic populations, although they are too scattered to form any settlements large enough to attract unwanted attention from the reserved Atmorans. Jerall Mountains, however, are dotted with refugee camps of the submissive Nedes, freed by the Atmorans from the Ayleid slave-kings during the Nordic-Falmer War.
